Go Back

I wanted to start this week by telling you how proud I am of the children in our school. There have been a couple of things that have stood out to me this week that I wanted to share with you. Firstly was the Remembrance Worship that took place on Thursday. The Year 6's absolutely smashed it with their powerful presentation of their war poems and did themselves proud. But what was absolutely amazing was the rest of the school. All the children, right down to the youngest children in reception were respectful, listened perfectly and joined in the worship impeccably. I am beyond proud at their level of respect and integrity at such a young age. The second time our children have amazed me this week was during a parent show around. As some of you will remember when new parents are choosing a primary school, they come and look around the school to see if it is right for them.  It was on one of these guided tours that, after I had done my bit and finished speaking, I asked if the group of parents had any questions. One parent said to me "I've no questions but how polite are the children! I can't believe how lovely they all are".  And as I thought back over the tour I remembered children waiting to let the adults through doorways, speaking to us as we passed, confidently and politely and just generally being their wonderful selves... and to have a visitor recognise those things and comment so positively, I genuinely couldn't be any prouder.

Parents Evening

We are really glad to be able to welcome parents back into school for parents evening this term. We decided to offer a hybrid system this year as zoom has become such a valuable part of our school system it just seemed right that parents be able to make the choice between a face to face appointment or a zoom appointment.

Parents evening on Tuesday 16th November will be face to face. Parents are invited into school to meet with the class teacher. We ask you all please to take a lateral flow test in the 48 hours before Tuesday evening and wear a mask while in school, if you are able.

Wednesday 17th November parents evening will be held via zoom - no lateral flow or mask wearing required!

The book fair is in school as normal. If you are coming to school on Tuesday you can pay with cash or via the website (Sharon will be around to help you).

If you are zooming in on Wednesday and would like to buy some books there are two links below to guide you.

The first is a list of 30 titles to choose from.  If your child has seen a book in school and has an idea of the book title it can be searched for on the Scholastic shop website. This will give you the title and the price that you require to order the book.Alternatively there are some books in the link below...

Here are some books to choose from...

The second explains the options of how to pay. We are using options 1 & 3 in school... sadly option 2 is too time consuming for the teachers so we have chosen not to use the wish list.

School meals

Junior kids - please order your meals via Scopay at home. The menus have been updated to the autumn/winter menu.

A polite reminder as we are a healthy school, please ensure any snacks provided for break time are healthy - fruit is a great option!

Reception Parents

Please return the Health Needs Questionnaire to school by Friday. The school nurses will be collecting them at some point on Friday.

Mental Health section of the website

As mentioned on last weeks newsletter there is a newly formed section of the website which is starting to build up some resources for parents around children's mental health. However, last week there was no link - my apologies! Please find the link below...

Christmas Fair

It's that time of year again... our Christmas Fair will be held on 6th December at 6pm. It will be mostly outside this year in the form of a Christmas market! A bit of a change for us but an exciting one! More details will be included in future newsletters.

In preparation for the Christmas Fair it is the first of our three non-uniform days this Friday (19th November). The children can wear their own clothes this Friday but we ask, if possible, that they bring in a donation of a certain colour to go in their year group hamper (see example of a previous years green hamper above!)

Items could include sweets, chocolates, popcorns, drinks, toiletries, new soft toys or games, garden games... the possibilities are endless. We do ask that any perishables are within their best before days and that all items are new/unused.

Reception (Class 1 and 2) - Green

Year 1 (Class 3 and Year 1s in Class 4) - Orange

Year 2 (Class 5 and Year 2s in Class 4 ) - Silver or White

Year 3 - (Class 6 and Year 3s in Class 7) - Red

Year 4 - (Class 8 and Year 4s in Class 7) - Blue

Year 5 (Class-9) Purple

Year 6 (Class 10 and 11) - Gold

It does appear that the first of our non-uniform days has fallen on Children in Need day - a lovely coincidence.  We don't want to double up our fundraising so we won't be asking for children in need donations in school but if the children want to chanel Pudsey on that day and embrace the yellow polkadots, they are more than welcome!

The PTFA have been hard at work planning the Christmas fair for us and sourcing some amazing raffle prizes - thank you all! Members of the PTFA are also organising the raffle for us this year - they will be sending home raffle tickets at some point next week. If you wish to purchase these raffle tickets please send them back to school in a named envelope with the money included.

Quite a chunky newsletter this week with lots of information included and it doesn't stop there - attached to this e-mail are the leaflets about the book fair and the holiday club.

It's always a busy term in school in the run up to Christmas (information about the nativities and other class Christmas celebrations will be included in the newsletter next week) and when times get busy it is more important than ever to look after ourselves. Remember to make time for yourself and don't expect anything of yourself that you wouldn't expect of others. We often put unrealistic expectations on ourselves and can push ourselves too far. Be kind to yourself this week and remember none of us are perfect - good enough is always good enough.
