A final push towards the end of term - let's try and keep the bubbles secure, and shapely, then, thankfully we can let them float off somewhere far away over the summer holiday. As I look back over the last 18 months I do so with pride. I know it's been rubbish, and I know when we shut bubbles it has implications for you, and your work place - we see that side in school as well, as staff have to go and pick their kids up when bubbles close at the "other side" of the covid chaos. At all times during the pandemic I have had an adamantine belief that we must do what is right for Chorley first and foremost, rather than the school. We have had to close bubbles to stop the spread of the virus around COVID. It would have been so wrong to have turned a blind eye to the odd LFD test, and so wrong to have closed the school for the colloquially called 'deap clean'. We saw that at my poor old school up the road at All Saints', who did close for said deap clean, only to return and close 3 bubbles within 2 days of returning. We have acted at St George's with rapier-like focus on the guidance, whether it be written, or verbal from PHE.
Who knows what the new term will bring? We know kids will be able to play as they did, eat as they did, and enjoy assemblies as they did - that will be ace. I've missed those; oursinging is the envy of other schools! We also know that the flexible start and end sees it's demise, so just a reminder that school starts at 8.50am, with kids being allowed in from 8.45am, and end at 3.15pm (Apart from reception, who finish at 3.10pm) But for now, please, let's put personal difficulties aside, and let's do what's right for the greater good - for The School, and then for Chorley, and let's have one final push.
Guidelines, for now, remain the same.
Hands, face, space, fresh air
Self Isolation for the whole household if anyone has symptoms, or anyone is awaiting results of a PCR
Regular LFD testing - only if you feel in tip top shape, and nothing is wrong with you. If you have any symptoms it's self isolation, and a PCR.
Remember the wider prevalent symptoms that are present in children, rather than adults.
Government guidance, underneath the headlines, actually states "anyone can get a PCR test at any time" And things change all the time, for example Headaches and Runny Noses are strongly linked to the latest Delta variant.
