Half yearly update from the local authority on St Georges attendance figures.
"Headteacher, Mr. Purcell and I meet a number of times a year to look at the school's attendance figures and what support is in place to assist parents whose children's attendance has dropped below a certain point. We are in the second academic year of the attendance meetings and I have to say attendance remains really positive – Currently, St Georges attendance percentage is at 96.7% which is above the national average! Well done and congratulations to all staff, parents & children who have made this happen – my request for the New Year is much the same, that parents continue to work with school and an even higher attendance percentages achieved in 2025!
Wishing everyone an exciting holiday and a fabulous New Year!

Welcome to this week’s newsletter! Did you know that Chorley was recently voted the 17th happiest place to live in the UK? This recognition reflects the positivity, community spirit, and resilience that thrive here. But true positivity isn’t just about things going well; it’s about knowing that even when life gets tough, we can cope and push through. As Ted Lasso reminds us, “I believe in hope. I believe in ‘believe.’”
Our children are learning this every day—processing challenges, celebrating successes, and developing the tools to stay determined through both the ups and the downs. As it says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Let’s embrace this belief and continue nurturing an environment where positivity shines, no matter what.
Here’s to a week of hope, strength, and smiles!

A massive thank you to our amazing Infant staff for their incredible work this week, bringing the Christmas message to life in such a beautiful way. Reception and Year 1 warmed our hearts with their joyful carol singing, and Year 2 absolutely smashed it with their phenomenal Nativity performance. The wonder, hope, and joy of Christmas shone through in every word and every song. As Luke 2:10 says, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” And it really did.
We’re so grateful to our parents for choosing St George’s. Thank you for trusting us with your most treasured possessions and for supporting us every step of the way. It means the world to know we’re all on this journey together. These moments are the magic of school life, and together we’ve created memories that’ll stick forever.
Here’s to more joy, more love, and more light. Thank you! 🌟

We’re thrilled to announce that this year’s post-Christmas panto will be Sleeping Beauty! As is now our tradition, children are invited to come dressed as a character from the story for a fun and festive day. They could be a princess like Aurora, a brave prince, a mischievous fairy, a knight, or even the villainous Maleficent! Simple costumes are perfect—anything to add to the magic of the day. We can't wait to see the creativity and excitement as we dive into this classic tale!

Our move to the SCO app for school dinners for the infants was a bold step, but it’s been a huge success! Of course INFANT DINNERS ARE FREE FOR EVERYONE - THATS STILL THE CARSE, bu now, every child can choose exactly what they want for lunch, making mealtimes more enjoyable and tailored to their tastes.
We kindly ask parents to give us as much notice as possible when ordering, but for those last-minute days, you can even order on the same day—especially handy for our Junior children who now order independently. School dinners are delicious, convenient, and all about giving children choice. Why not give them a try?

Its not exactly changed the world, but i enjoy them. Last term, I introduced 3 posters that I shared with the kids, staff and yourselves.....
As we close another term, it’s a good time to reflect on the messages that have inspired me over the past few months. Our posters encouraged us to celebrate others' success, to help others shine, and to be the person we want to meet. These weren’t just words on a wall; they became part of our everyday actions. I’ve seen you cheering each other on, lending a hand, and choosing kindness — and that, more than anything, makes our school shine.
A new term, and on this occasion a new year, brings new messages and more opportunities to grow together. This half-term, we’ll focus on:
-
“Count Your Wins, Both Big and Small” – At the end of each day, take a moment to reflect on your achievements as adults, and help the kids reflect on theres. Every small step forward matters, and every effort counts. You are growing more than you know. Imagine if we process these positives daily, and realise what we can and have achieved, how determind and confident the children will become. Full of self belief. Full of confidence. Full of determination, where even difficult times don't faze them as they know they can rely on themeselves.
-
“Listen to Understand, Not to Respond” – Communication is powerful. When we listen with an open heart, we build trust, understanding, and stronger friendships. Let’s choose to listen carefully and respond thoughtfully.
-
“Together, We Achieve More” – Teamwork is our superpower. Whether on the playground, in the classroom, or in a game, we rise higher when we support each other. Remember, success is sweeter when it’s shared.
As the Bible reminds us in Ecclesiastes 4:9, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” Let’s keep lifting each other up, celebrating our wins, and listening with kindness. Our community is strongest when we work, grow, and shine together.
Here’s to another term of kindness, encouragement, and teamwork!

As we approach the end of term, we want to continue the tradition of receiving thanks, but no presents from you! Your kind words, whether spoken or sent in an email, mean the world to us and are truly the best gifts we could receive. We know everyone is busy, and times are tight. If you feel strongly about giving, perhaps consider donating to a charity instead. Your support, kindness, and partnership are more than enough, and we are incredibly grateful to be part of this wonderful community. Thank you!
|
|
As we approach the end of term, we kindly ask that all outstanding debts, especially for wrap-around care, are settled. We do our best to make payment as simple as possible, but these funds are crucial for covering staff wages and ensuring the smooth running of our services. To continue using wrap-around care next term, all debts must be cleared before the end of this term. Your prompt attention to this is greatly appreciated, and thank you for your continued support and cooperation!

As we find ourselves galloping aplomb through season of Advent, with just a week left until the end of this term, I feel compelled to take a moment to reflect on all that we have achieved together - lets process it. This time of year is more than a countdown to Christmas; it is a wonderful opportunity for anticipation, hope, and a deep sense of community. Let us celebrate the vibrancy and excitement that fills our school, as the successes of our kids illuminate our paths.
As George Bailey wisely reminds us in the classic film It's a Wonderful Life, "No man is a failure who has friends." This quote rings true within our community, which thrives on relationships, support, and a steadfast commitment to one another. During this Advent season, let us reinforce these bonds, nurturing a space that is full of optimism, collaboration, and resilience.
May this Advent continue to bring you immense warmth, the warmth of togetherness, and a renewed spirit of giving. Together, let us embrace these final days of term with open hearts, a relaxed mind, and deep, calm, slow breathes, and create lasting memories. Thank you for your honest support and belief in our mission; I am truly grateful to be on this journey with you all.
All the very best, Andy
