PLEASE WORK WITH ME ON THIS ONE.....
The Diocese are going to be doing a video of school life here at St George's following our Inspection.
We're lucky at St George's I know that. The vast majority of parents really do work with us, the kids are amazing, and the staff are phenominal. We really do have something worth protecting. Other schools may not be as lucky perhaps, getting bogged down with numerous negative disputes with parents, or spending a lot of time on supporting kids with attitudes to learning, or they may have a young staff, or a new headteacher - and theyre faced with inspection. Yuk!
The diocese are going to film snap shots of our life to try and support, refresh, insprie , or indeed to reassure other schools. The videos will go beyond our school. It will be hosted on Blackburn Site, but could go further afield if they are useful.
A "trip" has been set up on SCOpay - can you please either give consent, if Diocese can video your child, please decline consent if they can't.
Can you do this over the weekend please, then I know where were up to?
Please!?!

We are thrilled to announce two exciting additions to our teaching staff. First, we extend a warm welcome to Simon Ball, who joins us from Yarrow Training, bringing a wealth of knowledge and fresh perspectives. Additionally, we are delighted to welcome back Mark Holmes, who returns to us after a trial period elsewhere. Mark's return is a testament to the strong community and positive environment at St George's. Both Simon and Mark will undoubtedly enrich our educational landscape, and we are eager to see the wonderful contributions they will make. Over the coming weeks SLT will be liaising with teachers as to allocation for the new academic year.

Well done Year 6
I am proud of all the children in the school – that’s no secret. I will pass on my gratitude and also admiration to Year 6 for their efforts, not just during their national test week, but indeed for the whole of their time in Year 6. There are so many clichés used around Year 6 SATS – they’re predictable. At the end of the day we do have to complete the National Tests – and as we do everything at St George’s we enter into the tests with determination, humour and compassionate – making the process just part natural life – nothing to fear, but an opportunity to shine – which they appear to have done. I also, in a very genuine way, want to thank the parents as well – all the children entered school on time and ready and raring to go! Thanks!

Sports days
Following the huge success of last year's sports day, and the kind generosity of Albany Academy, we will once again be hosting both sports days at Albany (although I must confess they don't know yet!) It's great, and the kids loved it last year.
Sports Days. PROVISIONAL DATES TBC 25th, 26th June
Weather permitting, and with permission from Albany our sports days will be held on 25th (Infants) and 26th June for the Juniors, in the mornings, both starting at approx. 9.30am. over at Albany High School.
Children will meet at school as usual in the mornings. School staff will escort the children to Albany, where sports day will take its usual form.
All children should come to school ready in team colour polo if they have, if not a plain T shirt of the same colour, PE shorts and pumps or trainers. They can stay in this all day so no need for uniform.
If we are lucky enough to have the sun shining please make sure that your child has had sun cream applied before school and that they are wearing a hat/cap.
Come along and support us and join in the fun!
Alas, there will be no chairs available, so either bring a blanket, bring your own garden chairs, or sit on the grass banking over at Albany. Should you require any chairs from school pop over and Martin will sort you out, and please remember, toilets are for childrens' use only. Should you need the loo, you’re going to have to pop to our school. Sorry.
Once dates are confirmed Simon or Naomi will put them on the WebCal for us.

SUMMER FAIR ------------It’s that time of year again!
A lot of work, a lot of fun and a lot of funds raised!
In the run up to the Summer Fair (Monday 8th July) we have 3 non-uniform Fridays planned—21st June, 28th June and 5th July. In return for the children coming in their own clothes we ask for contributions for the school fair.
For those of you new to the school, it runs like the Christmas Fair; we do not charge any money for the days, but ask if you would mind supplying us with bottles, clean re-useable, or new soft toys, books, games, chocolates, toiletries, or any prizes that can be used for the tombola stall.
In the next newsletter, there will be details of how you can help both in the run up and on the evening itself.
The PTFA are great - to be honest I've worked with some wonderful PTFAs, including the current one. I remember fondly the 1st PTFA I worked with at St George's, very different to our current one, but equally lovely. Some members of our current PTFA will be looking at leaving us after this Fair, so I really would welcome a fresh, new group of people who are willing to work with school to lead the PTFA. You can bring your own ideas, your own skill set and do it your way.... there's no need to follow in the footsteps of the current PTFA. So, if you're interested in finding out more, then come and meet the PTFA, in the new year, and help take it in your direction.

May I conclude with a gentle reminder to supervise your kids before 8.45am. I know one or two of you do use the MUGA, which is ok, but you must be supervised - children cannot use the MUGA in the morning without adult supervision. For those of you who do require morning care we do have breakfast club that is open from 7.45am. Staff take responsibility from 8.45am.
Have another great long weekend folks.......

I've decided to let the bees go today. We had another mini swarm, and another sting. Whilst the swarms are normal, and harmless the frequency of them was becoming a little disturbing. Further we've had a few kids get stung by the bees, and whilst I'm grateful for your support, and tolerance with the Bees, im aware that this can only go so far before it becomes a problem.
Additionally, 1 or 2 kids were getting a bit nervous of them, and that was never the plan. It was good fun whilst it lasted, and i'm grateful to all who supported this project. - its been amazing. But, in my opinion, the time had come to part ways. Thanks for your support, and acceptance of the bees.... let's hope the weather settles, and the bees can chill in their new home.
Andy
