Subject: A Heartfelt Request for Safe Driving and Parking Around Our Schools
Dear Parents and Community Members,
I am reaching out with a respectful appeal for heightened awareness and responsibility when driving and parking around our schools, particularly along Carr Lane. As you know, this area becomes particularly congested during the beginning and end of the school day, with St George's Primary School, Woodlands, and Albany School all sharing this space.
Recently, a child from Albany School was involved in a minor traffic incident. Fortunately, the child was unharmed, but this occurrence is a poignant reminder of the potential risks in such busy areas.
In our collective effort to ensure the safety of our children, I kindly request the following:
1. Follow Speed Limits: Please adhere to the speed limits near our schools. A slower speed allows for better reaction time should a child step onto the road unexpectedly.
2. Observe Parking Rules: Park only in designated areas and avoid double parking or blocking driveways. Incorrect parking not only creates inconvenience but can also be a serious safety risk.
3. Stay Alert: Children can be unpredictable, and due to their size, not always easily seen. Always be vigilant for children crossing the road or playing nearby.
4. Exercise Patience: Mornings and afternoons can be rushed, but your patience is crucial in maintaining a safe environment for our children.
5. Consider Alternative Transportation: If possible, walking or cycling to school with your children can significantly reduce traffic congestion and promote their physical health.
Additionally, I would like to address a sensitive but important point regarding parking. There may be times when school staff need to ask you to move your vehicle. We understand that this might be inconvenient, and we ask for your understanding and cooperation in these instances. Please know that these requests are made purely with the safety of our children in mind, and are not intended to cause offence.
The safety and well-being of all our students is our utmost priority. By working together and being extra vigilant, we can create a safer environment for them to learn and grow.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this vital matter.
Andy
