Folks I wish to start with an apology. It had completely passed me by that yesterday was a day when some unions had decided to take industrial action. I hadn't discussed anything with staff, ergo, hadn't communicated anything to you - whilst of course it was all mute, and a normal day, I do owe you both an apology. I would hate staff to think I am taking them for granted. Of course deciding to take Industrial Action is a decision for individuals. It transpires that on this occasion they had decided not to take IA, of course, they may in the future - I just hope they tell me, which they will, to help me plan, and to bring something to my attention that I could have missed. Anyway, thankfully no harm done, and for that I'm grateful, and relieved, and apologies to all - I dropped the ball there.
That said, I have spoken to staff today, and school will be opne as normal on May 2nd, as staff have decided on this occasion not to take Indusrial Action.
In a similar vein, local elections on Thursday. It's only a small election, so we'll stay open, and make one or 2 internal adjudements.
We will use Katie Blackledge's room – off the promendade
Children can enter school as normal, but please supervise your kids more closley during yard time at the start and end of the day.
Dismissal will be as normal, but it could be a little slower as the public will have access to the infant playground throughout the day.
Break and lunch times for all children will be on the secure junior yard.
I've done a Risk Assessment for the day, and on balance think school is better open - we're still catching up from Covid, and we've had more bank holidays that I know what to do with over the last few years...... too often in life we forget the importance of the 1% losses and the 1% gains.
