Over and out term 2

Holy Week beckons.... but before we break, let's once again look at the week, and lets ask each other - what does the week we've had together say about us?
Holy Week beckons, and on the one hand its lovely to be off, away from the buzz of school life, but, perhaps more significantly is the disappointment of notbeing in, able to share the very real events of the week..... When it comes, with Palm Sunday on the 13th April, let us pause, and think. Let us not let this most significant of weeks pass us by.
This profound journey is an opportune moment to reflect deeply on its significance, both historically and spiritually. Holy Week commences with Palm Sunday, celebrating Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where he was greeted with joy and palm branches. Moving to Maundy Thursday, we remember the Last Supper, where Jesus demonstrated humility and service, washing the feet of his disciples and establishing the Eucharist. Good Friday invites us to reflect solemnly upon the passion and crucifixion of Christ, reminding us of the profound sacrifice made out of unconditional love. Finally, Easter Sunday brings the joyous celebration of resurrection and hope, signifying victory over death and promise of eternal life. We encourage parents to discuss these pivotal events with their children, reflecting on their meanings and the powerful messages they impart about love, sacrifice, resilience, and hope.
Before that though, let's once again look at the week, and lets ask each other - what does the week we've had together say about us?
Amazing running from these superstars this morning! They ran with smiles on their faces and showed lots of spirit and resilience! Well done everyone and thanks to everyone for supporting us this morning!
World Book Day was brilliant.... lots of educated fun to be had.
Class 4 had a busy morning making masks and puppets, taking part in a book quiz and then completing a book character treasure hunt. In the afternoon the year 1 children decorated gingerbread men as different book characters.
Class 7 have enjoyed International Children’s Storytelling Day today. They’ve visited all junior classes completing a carousel of activities, had their own costume catwalk on the Muga, followed by learning about Hans Christian Andersen and watching a video of one of his stories - The Steadfast Tin Soldier.
Class 6 looked amazing in the book character costumes today!
We spent the morning doing book activities across Key Stage 2 classes. In Class 6 we made our wizarding character to join Hogwarts School.
In the afternoon, our chosen author was Roald Dahl. We read, listened to his stories and watched film clips of The BFG to inspire our Dream Jars and book marks.
Class 9 have had a fantastic International Children's Book Day being creative, having fun, being storytellers and even music producers. Fantastic imaginations! Thank you Class 9 for such a great day!
Years 5 and 6 became story and content creators for International Children's Book Day as they used story dice to create their own stories, from scratch. Then, with the help of AI they created settings and theme music/songs for their stories. Here are some photos of Year 5 and 6 in action, as well as some of their settings. Head over to the Year 5 and Year 6 Seesaw pages to listen to the songs that they created. See if you can match the songs to the settings.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all staff involved in the Year 4 Easter Passion and the Class 7, Year 3 Easter Worship. Both performances were magnificent, demonstrating remarkable confidence and teamwork from the children. It's always important to reflect and process these moments of achievement to appreciate the hard work and growth involved for both staff, and child. Special thanks to Ange, Si, Donna, Julie, and all staff members for their dedication and tireless effort in making these events so memorable and successful!
