Welcome back folks..... a great, positive exciting start to the term

Year 5 have had a brilliant start.

Year 5 came in to much changed classrooms this morning! After some discussion, we worked out that we had been visited by a Chinese speaker who had decorated our rooms, left a message and put on images from a Chinese circus. They had also left a letter for us, written in Chinese. We used our Computing skills to translate the letter and found it was, in fact, a plea for help. It was from a Circus Master who had brought his circus to the UK, from China, but his star attraction (kites) had not made it. He asked us if we could make kites to for him.

Always keen to help, Year 5 took on the challenge and produced some fantastic kites.

After lunch, we came back to another letter from the Circus Master who was grateful for the kites Year 5 had made. Happily, the kites have now arrived from China so Year 5 can take theirs home. As a thank you gift, the Circus Master has left us a book called The Kite Rider. We can’t wait to find out what it is about.

What an exciting morning we had in Class 5! The children arrived to find the classroom was now the scene of a criminal investigation. The Fairytale Police assigned the children as investigators to help solve the mystery of the missing Gingerbread Man. The children solved clues scattered around the classroom that would lead them to different fairytales. When they had identified all of them, they then looked under the evidence sheet for the final 3 clues as to who had caused this chaos! Such a fun morning that will lead us wonderfully into our ‘twisted fairytale’ literacy topic. Well done Class 5 🕵️‍♀️🐷🐷🐷
