Thomas and Katie plan all of their hooks to begin their topics but what they can’t plan is the live docking of a space craft with the ISS to kick start the topic of space and news reports!!
Year 5 started the day watching the Space X Dragon shuttle dock with the International Space Station live on BBC news. We then read a newspaper report about this and practiced our retrieval skills.
Isn’t it great when learning in class links to real life events around us. The children were amazed at what they were witnessing and were inspired to learn.
Tuesday was the first of our prayer days in school delivered by the handtomouth team.
This year our theme is respect.
The infant children are starting the day with a worship and over the day will have classroom sessions including Godly play.
Over the 2 days the junior children will visit the prayer spaces room and get involved with the tasks with a partner.
This is a lovely time for quiet contemplation and spirituality.
Year 6, indeed the whole school thoroughly enjoyed the Holi Dance! Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is a vibrant and joyous celebration marking the arrival of spring. It's an ancient Hindu festival, rooted in mythology and tradition, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. Celebrants douse each other in colorful powders, sharing songs, dances, and festive foods. It's a time for forgiveness, meeting others, playful encounters, and the renewal of relationships. Holi is not only celebrated in India but has also gained popularity worldwide, embracing inclusivity and the joy of life.

As part of our community link with Chorley Help the Homeless, please can you donate any non perishable food items between now and Easter. These might include tins, pasta, rice, packets, biscuits and perhaps even Easter eggs for families with children. Any toiletry items would also be gratefully received.
Class 7 enjoyed their Godly play session today as part of the Prayer Days this week. They had response time afterwards where the children were able to make models, draw or write prayers. Lots of thoughtful work done.
Many thanks in advance,
Mrs Makepeace.
