At St. George’s, we’re incredibly proud of our inspiring and engaging curriculum, designed to ignite curiosity and a love for learning in every child. From Saxon Day to Space Day, and a myriad of curricular hooks sprinkled throughout, our lessons are brought to life in ways that excite and motivate. These experiences aren’t just fun—they’re rooted in solid pedagogy, aligning with Gagné’s 9 Areas of Learning to ensure our children’s education is both rich and effective. By sparking interest, presenting challenges, and encouraging critical thinking, we’re building knowledge and skills that will serve them for a lifetime. It’s this kind of innovation that makes St. George’s a place where children truly want to learn, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Year 5 Chave had an amazing day learning about everything from the end of the Roman Empire in Britain, all the way up to Alfred the Great. The History Squad were fabulous... Hands on history and some exciting story telling!! Excited for our upcoming unit to take this part of British history further!

Year 2 have had a wonderful morning. Today our 100 trout eggs have arrived 🐟. Over the coming weeks, we will be able to watch first hand as these eggs hatch into Alevin and then grow to feeding Fry before we release them around Easter time into the river beside Hoggs Lane. Neil from Ribble Riversway Trust, spent over an hour with the children, explaining the life cycle of the trout, how we will need to care for them and also informing us of the predators that the trouts face in the wild. We should hope for a 70-90% release success rate 🤞.

The children will now take on a rota as trout monitors, recording the tank temperatures and checking with magnifying glasses for any eggs that may have turned white and died.

We will keep you posted with their progress!

In RE this week, Class 3 celebrated the Spanish tradition of “El dia de los Magos” which is the day of the kings.

We left our shoes on our chairs in the hope that a gift would be placed in them from the wise men. We made a kings crown cake and hid a jelly baby Jesus in it. Lots of fun to finish our unit!

Cold, yes, buthasn't the weather been beautiful

Class 5 have had a very exciting morning. They came in this morning to find the classroom was now in Space and a mysterious rocket had landed on our carpet🪐🚀🛰. They have had a wonderful time exploring the small world areas, retrieving interesting facts from books and watching clips of important Space invents in recent history. What a fabulous way to immerse ourselves in this term’s topic of Space and our literacy unit ‘Man on the Moon’ 🪐🚀🛰
