Year 5 writing.....
As promised, here is the outcome of our writing, inspired by the book 'The Kite Rider' by Geraldine McCaugheran. The results are stunning, and only possible because of the fantastic descriptive language we have used. Here are some of the images and there'll be more to follow.
This sounds exciting, and is one of the 1st uses of Carol's advanced skills in Forest School.
On 5th December, Class 3 will be having a “Great Fire of London” afternoon to celebrate the end of our History topic. We will be spending the afternoon out side in our Forest School, and taking part in fire lighting. Once we’ve made our fire we’re going to set fire to our Pudding Lane project that we are currently making in DT
On the day, children are to attend school in their uniform and will change in to their outdoor clothes at lunch time. Please ensure that children bring warm, waterproof clothing and suitable footwear for the experience, as the weather may be cold and wet.
If you have any further questions please drop me a seesaw message or an email and I’ll get back to you.
Many thanks,
(I have to say, I hope the OFSTED inspector who was with us for one day sees this...... i still cringe about my meeting with her when she said, "The only thing the children could tell me about was the great fire of London." To which I replied, "yes, it's the only History unity they've studied so far. " She continued..... "its not on the planning"
Alas, the acronym GFOL baffled her - she thought it was a book!!!!
This afternoon, Class 3 carried out a Science investigation. We tried to find out which material would be most suitable to make an umbrella, for our teddy who got wet in the rain! well done class 3!
Class 7 enjoyed the church service this morning at St George’s. Before the service, the children looked at some of the features inside and drew them. Lots of careful observations and time were taken. Well done everyone
This week Class 3 have started to bring their design briefs to life. We’ve made a start on our ‘Pudding Lane’ DT project. Class 3, has made an amazing Great Fire of London project at home with her Grandma. She showed the class this morning, explaining what everything was and how she’d made it! Well done Elsie! You’re a star!
The infant dance festival was amazing..... im loving my little trips out with the kids, its great seeing them trying new things - this time kids enjoyed being in a dance studio, and drama studio.
This week, our KS1 kids took to the stage at the dance festival, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and courage. They performed with joy in a professional dance studio, mingled with other children, and embraced new experiences with open hearts. Take a moment to think about what that says about them: they are brave, adaptable, and willing to try new things, even when it feels a bit nerve-wracking. Now imagine if we all—adults and kids alike—took time every day to process our own little victories. Whether it’s mastering a tricky dance step, helping a friend, or simply trying something new, reflecting on these achievements can fill us with confidence and self-belief. Our children, when they leave us one day, could stand taller, speak bolder, and believe wholeheartedly in their own ability to shine. Let's celebrate not just the grand milestones, but the quiet, powerful steps forward we make every day.
